Click Translate support

The support mailbox is being set up and cannot receive email yet. The troubleshooting guidance below is available during pre-release development.

Tell us your device, operating system version, app version, and what happened. Don't include API keys, payment details, or private screenshot text.

Offline languages won't finish downloading

Connect to the internet and reopen Click Translate. On iPhone, open Settings and tap Prepare offline language. Android retries its model download the next time you translate. Apple or Google supplies the model download; screenshots and recognized text aren't uploaded for translation.

The iPhone or iPad Shortcut doesn't appear

Launch Click Translate once after installation. On iOS 26 or later, create Take Screenshot -> Translate Screenshot Instantly -> Quick Look. On iOS 18 through iOS 25, use Take Screenshot -> Translate Screenshot in App.

Offline conversation won't start

Open Offline conversation and choose the speaking language and translation direction. On iOS 26 or later, Prepare checks the speech and translation files. Use Download offline assets if they are missing. A language being selectable does not guarantee that Apple's models support it on your device.

Android needs Android 12 or later and an available on-device speech service. English and Mandarin are supported directions when the device has their speech models. Download languages installs translation files and, on Android 13 or later, requests the selected speech model. Older devices may need speech files installed through system speech settings. Start never falls back to an online recognizer. Android listens for one turn per Start.

Speak plays a completed translation after stopping the microphone. Start, Stop, direction changes and leaving the screen cancel the previous turn. Successful utterances share the existing translation allowance; failed or cancelled translations do not consume it. Online minute packs are not available in the current build.

Android screen capture stops

Start capture again inside Click Translate. Android can stop MediaProjection when the app is force-closed, the device restarts, or another capture session begins.

Notifications are optional. If enabled, the screen translation notification has a Stop action. If notifications are off on Android 13 or later, Android still lists the service in Active apps (Task Manager). You can always return to Click Translate and use Stop screen translation. Enable notifications in the app if you want the notification's stop control.

Camera or microphone access is off

On iPhone and iPad, tap Camera or Start listening to request the access that feature needs. If access was denied, use the Open Settings button beside the explanation. Restricted camera access may be controlled by a parent or device administrator. Choose image still works without camera or full photo-library access.

On Android, Start explains microphone access when needed. If Android no longer offers its permission prompt, the app guides you to its permission settings. Return and tap Start again. Changing a setting never starts the microphone automatically.

Mac screen access isn't available

Choose Screenshot or Live Area to request Screen Recording. If capture is unavailable, use Open Screen Recording Settings, then turn on Click Translate under Privacy & Security → Screen & System Audio Recording. The app doesn't record microphone or system audio. If macOS asks, quit and reopen Click Translate. Use Check Again, then choose Screenshot or Live Area. Returning from Settings never starts capture.

A translation is wrong

Try a tighter screenshot with larger, sharper text. Stylized game fonts and text over animated backgrounds are harder for on-device OCR to read.

Free translations or subscription access look wrong

Free mode allows 10 completed translations per local calendar day. Open Settings in Click Translate and use Restore Purchases if an active subscription is not shown. Store purchase and renewal problems must be resolved in the App Store or Google Play account that bought the subscription.

Extra translations from ads

Choose “Watch an ad · Get 5 translations” beside your balance or on the limit screen. Complete the ad's reward requirement to earn 5 extras, at most twice each local day. You can save 20 extras. Spend some first if another full reward would exceed that balance. Free daily translations are used before extras, and extras survive the daily reset.

If no ad is available, check your connection and try later. Your current translations still work. Closing an ad before earning its reward adds nothing and spends nothing. Restore Purchases restores subscription access, not the local bonus balance. Use the in-app ad-report link to report an inappropriate advertisement.

Mac Live Area time

Free Mac use includes 10 screenshots and 5 active Live Area minutes each local day. The timer starts after the first translation. Pause, Stop, errors, and sleep stop counting. Showing the original keeps live capture running and still counts. When the time runs out, capture pauses. Subscribe through Translation Plan or resume the next day. Mac does not offer ad top-ups.

Use your own DeepL API key

On Apple devices, open Settings > Advanced · DeepL. On Android, find Optional DeepL in the main app. Enter a DeepL API Free or API Pro key and save it. A regular DeepL translator subscription is not an API account. Test connection asks permission to contact DeepL without sending text. Connection testing uses the saved key. Save a replacement before testing it.

Translate an image offline first, then choose Translate again with DeepL and approve the recognized-text upload. Use Show offline translation / Show DeepL translation to compare without another request. On iOS, open an image in Click Translate for this action; the instant Shortcut's Quick Look image has no BYOK control. On Mac it is available on completed screenshots, not Live Area. Conversation audio is never part of BYOK.

DeepL charges your API account separately. BYOK retries use no extra Click Translate allowance or online minutes. Invalid credentials, unsupported languages, exhausted provider limits, and network failures keep the existing result. There are no automatic paid retries. Cancellation or timeout may happen after DeepL has already processed the request. Captures over 50 text blocks or a 128 KiB request body must be cropped before retrying. English uses US spelling and Portuguese uses European Portuguese.

Delete API key removes the local saved credential. To disable it on every device, revoke it in your DeepL account. Never include an API key or private screenshot text in a support message.

A feature is temporarily unavailable

A feature may be disabled for maintenance or for your app version. Reconnect and open the app to refresh availability settings. Feature controls do not unlock a subscription or add support for languages your device cannot run.

For a device-specific test rollout, copy the Feature access ID shown in Settings and include it in your support request once email support is available. The ID belongs to local app settings; restoring a device backup may restore that ID too. Don't send API keys or screenshot contents with it.
